Talk It Out

Discuss the issues of today and tomorrow

And the moon turned red - in pictures

Every day politicians can be counted on to do something worth debating or criticising. But it's not every day you see the earth cast its shadow onto the moon. So this post doesn't discuss politics, but has some pics of today's lunar eclipse. Times like these I wish I had a fancy camera with super powerful optics and a mega-resolution, but for now my consumer-level Sony Cybershot will just have to do. The pics are hardly professional quality, but the eclipse was good fun.

The flu hits home

In case any of my readers are wondering where I disappeared of to - the flu outbreak that you probably heard about on the news has hit with a vengeance! As writing coherently and a fever don't go together, I am going back to bed :-)

Welcome to the blog

Welcome to the Talk It Out blog.

We are all passionate about something, but I’ve been finding that lately I have had no time or “space” to express those interests and passions. Hopefully this blog will be that space. It may be just a collection of my ramblings on various topics (politics, social and women’s issues being the favourites), but it may provide someone else out there with a way to express themselves through comments or contributing posts.

The increase in means of communications has not (in my opinion) always translated into an increased quality of discussion. A considered, intelligent debate on subjects that impact our everyday life is not often engaged in, or desired by the powers that be.

If this blog can become a tiny corner of the cyberspace where such discussion can take place - then it will be a mission accomplished.

Thanks for reading.
